Dusty Springfield Look of Love

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD

"The LOOK of LOVE"

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD

The LOOK of LOVE, is just one of a few thousand great songs recorded in the great era of 1960s - 1970s Music. Yes just one of so many thousands of great songs, of which the current era of so-called musicians could ever think of making just one song, and the musical artists and sng writers of the 50s 60s 70s and even 1980s produced Thousands of Great Songs, in the musical genres of R&B, POP, Standards, Movie Music, and of course good old Rock-N-Roll Music.

Listen to this great song, "The Look of Love" written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and sung here by the incomparable Dusty Springfield who recorded a number of Bacharach / David hits.

The Look of Love was written in 1967 for the film CASINO ROYALE which was a spoof on James Bond films. It was originally written as an instrumental song, but David later added lyrics to it, and Dusty Springfield recorded it, and the song was released in 1968.

Bacharach said that he was inspired for the melody of the song, when he watched Ursala Andress in early cuts of the film.

Dionne Warwick, Isaac Hayes, Diana Krall, and Bobby Womack have all done covers of the song.

A cover of The Look of Love was recorded by Susanna Hoffs for the movei Austin Powers, and was included on the movie soundtrack.

It is highly unlikely that just one such great song like the "Look of Love" could ever be made today, as there are no good song writers like; Burt Bacharach, Hal David, Carole King, or so many others. The song writers, musicians, and bands of the 21st Century quite literally "Suck" and are incapable of producing just one great son like this. Musicans and Son Writters of the 20ths Century produced literally Thousands of Great Pop, R&B, American Standards, and Rock N Roll music.

Again, what happened to music? Why did it Die? Why aren't there any great musical artsist out there other than ones that are still around from the 20th Century, like; The Rolling Stones, Tony Bennett, and Dianna Ross, just to name a few.

"I just don't get it?"

Thank God for Records & CDs and The Music of The 20th Century.

"We don't have to Listen to The Crap Music of Today."

THUNDER ROAD

BORN to RUN

In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway nine,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin' out over the line
H-Oh, Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

Yes, girl we were

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
And strap your hands 'cross my engines
Together we could break this trap
We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back
H-Oh, Will you walk with me out on the wire
'Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider
But I gotta know how it feels
I want to know if love is wild
Babe I want to know if love is real

Oh, can you show me

Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
Girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
And the boys try to look so hard
The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
I wanna die with you Wendy on the street tonight
In an everlasting kiss

One, two, three, four!

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
But there's no place left to hide
Together Wendy we can live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul
H-Oh, Someday girl I don't know when
We're gonna get to that place
Where we really wanna go
And we'll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
Baby we were born to run

Oh honey, tramps like us
Baby we were born to run

Come on with me, tramps like us
Baby we were born to run

COMMENTARY on Bruce Springsteen's "BORN to RUN"  1975

This is indeed a true love song people, but it’s also much more. Bruce once described it as a song about two people trying to find their way home. So yes, it’s about escaping somewhere, but I think it’s also about running to somewhere; towards adulthood maybe, escaping the constraints of adolescence. It’s about yearning to find out if life is really all it’s cracked up to be, do dreams become realised or do they drown in life’s mediocrity? Is there such a place where you can ‘walk in the sun’? and, most importantly is love really real — does it really exist as it does in books and films and music, or is it an exaggerated, exploited myth?

So for me this is a song about two people taking the decision to stare life in the face and ask those kind of questions of it, they’re challenging their existence, wanting more from it, desperately wanting life to mean something, and they’re about to find out if it does.

This is why this song is so incredible, because it’s universal — the questions asked in this song are the questions we all ask ourselves at some point in our life, and often spend the rest of it trying to answer them.

BECAUSE THE NIGHT

BRUCE

Bruce Springsteen is the embodiment of American Rock 'n' Roll. Influences from Chuck Berry, the Byrds, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Woodie Guthrie shaped the music.
Starting as a folk singer/songwriter in Greenwich Village, Springsteen was quickly spotted and signed by CBS Records. Early Springsteen records, Greetings from Asbury Park NJ and The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle were Dylanesque storytelling wrapped in Jersey Shore r&b, soul, and Stax, see Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. His third effort, entitled, Born to Run was an instant success, and is the early highpoint of Springsteen's career.
Before Springsteen ever had a hit record, he had the hype. This was purely on the basis of the live shows. In 1974, Rolling Stone critic and future Springsteen manager, Jon Landau stated 'I saw rock 'n' roll future, and its name is Bruce Springsteen.' A quarter century later, Landau has been proved correct.
Springsteen shows would last between 3,5 and 4,5 hours, and were regarded as near-religious experiences. I personally went to shows in Detroit's Joe Louis Arena (<20.000) and the Silverdome (>60.000) fans during the Born in the USA tour. Springsteen would keep playing until the fans were out of energy. He would ask if we wanted more, and once the energy was gone, he walked off. Those were the best shows I ever saw.
The late seventies and early eighties saw the revivalist Springsteen release a string of critically acclaimed and wildly popular records. Darkness on the Edge of Town was moody, stark, and different than anything else on AOR radio.
Four sides of the double album, The River, encompassed British Invasion and post-Byrds such as on the 'The Ties that Bind' and 'Out in the Street'. The word was that the studio, The Record Plantturned into an Elvis shrine. Singles such as 'Fire' and 'Because the Night' were giveaways to The Pointer Sisters, Robert Gordonand Patti Smith. Springsteen's own Top 10 single "Hungry Heart,' was a paeon to The Turles and harkened back to The Lovin' Spoonful. The darker 'River' and 'Stolen Car' were a harbringer of Springsteen's first solo record.

ONE For MY BABY

Watch this great Music Video of the Great Frank Sinatra, singing one of his classics. ONE FOR MY BABY, written by the great Johnny Mercer. It's what Frank called a Drunk Song. I saw Frank perform 7 times, and when he did this, he said,"now I'm gonna a do a Drunk Song," as the character in the song (Frank) is in a bar, which some have said was PJ CLARKE'S on 3rd Avenue in New York. PJ Clarke's was long a favorite of Sinatra, he drank there many times over the years, and ate a Burger or Steak.

Anyway watch the video.

"One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)" is a hit song written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer for the movie musical The Sky's the Limit (1943) and first performed in the film by Fred Astaire. It was popularized by Frank SINATRA .
Harold Arlen described the song as "another typical Arlen tapeworm" – a "tapeworm" being the trade slang for any song which went over the conventional 32 bar length. He called it "a wandering song. [Lyricist] Johnny [Mercer] took it and wrote it exactly the way it fell. Not only is it long – forty-eight bars – but it also changes key. Johnny made it work."  In the opinion of Arlen's biographer, Edward Jablonski, the song is "musically inevitable, rhythmically insistent, and in that mood of 'metropolitan melancholic beauty' that writer John O'Hara finds in all of Arlen's music."
Sinatra recorded the song several times during his career: In 1947 with Columbia Records, in 1954 for the film soundtrack album Young at Heart, in 1958 for Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely, in 1962 for Sinatra & Sextet: Live in Paris, in 1966 for Sinatra at the Sandsand finally, in 1993, for his Duets album.

Great Music from SADE Love Deluxe

SADE

"SMOOTH OPERATOR"

SADE LOVE DELUXE

SADE

"KISS of LIFE"

What can I say about Sade and her music. Well, for one, Sade and her music completely captivated me, back in the 80s when I was a young guy in my late 20s, Full of Life Love & Passion I was, and Sade beautiful Sultry Music really struck a chord with me. Her music put into words all the Love Passion and Romantic feelings I had for woman and being in relationships with them. She had her own style, her music was absolutely gorgeous, and like her song Smooth Operator, her music was so smooth, and Sade and her music was Super Cool. And like me at the time, I thought of myself as a Super Cool guy, fashionable, educated, well traveled, a Renaissance Man, and Man of The World, and Sade and her Cool Smooth Sultry Sounds fit me like a tee, and I just loved her. I Loved her style her music, her grace. The lyrics of her music were romantic, meaningful, passionate, and sincere, and I loved it. ANd I had a Crush on Sade too.

Dam I listened to that music, like it was going out of style, I listened to it a lot, for a long time too. And you know, as much as I loved her music  and was so into it, it suprised me when I realized recently that I don't listen to it as much any more. I still love it, but I must admit that I'm not so crazy about it as I once was. Not that the music isn't wonderful, or that I don't think it is anymore, no the music is just as great and beautiful as it ever was, and Sade's music can blow away any of and everything, all the crappy music they make today. Not even close. There is no one out there today who could ever dream of touching Sade. Taylor Swift? She SUCKS !!! As does Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, stupid Justin Timberlake and all the other SHITTY MUSICAL artist out there today, "They All SUCK," Big Time. It's so Sad! What the Hell Happened? WHAT THE FUCK? I just don't get it. Why doesn't anyone at all make any good music any more? WHY?

Anyway, Thank God for Great Musical Artist like the Great Sade Adu, who created quite a Good Body of the most beautiful, original music imaginable.

Wow, I went off on a tangent, as I usually do when I think of The SHITTY MUSIC They make in the 21st Century, I just don't get it?

Anyway, back to loving Sade 's awesome music, today and back in the day, in the 1980's when Sade was making all her wonderful tunes. Yes, I was a young man in my 20s, everything is more intense when you're young, especially when it comes to Love and Passion and relationships with the opposite sex, in my case females. Sade channeled all my Romantic Passion for women and love that I had back then, and boy let me tell you, it was strong. Things just aren't the same when you get into you 50s ..

SADE

DIAMOND LIFE

GREAT ALBUM

There is not one artist out here of all the SHITTY MUSICAL Artists of The 21st CENTURY that could make anything near to this Wonderful Music that the Great SADE made in the 1980s. They Just Don't Make any good music at all any more. "WHAT THE FUCK?" I Don't Get It ! Whay the Hell Not? Cause all the so-called musicians of the present day all SUCK, No Talent what so-ever. There's no melody, no structure, and Shitty Lyrics. Thank God we have all the GREAT MUSIC of The 60s 70s & 80s and we can buy records from the past. I still have all my great Vinyl Albums, including SADE, The BEATLES, The ROLLING STONES, all the Great R&B artists and their Records, ROCK, and POP MUSIC of the 60s and 70s. I Love it.

..

Music Today is FUCKING GARBAGE

The GREAT LUCIANO PAVAROTTI

Out of  a Few Hundred Shitty Musical Artist Out There Now, Not One Could Ever Dream of Shining The GREAT LUCIANO PAVAROTTI 'S SHOES... Or Any of The GREAT POP R&B & ROCK Musicans of the 50s 60s 1970s & 80s ..

WHY DOES 21st CENTURY MUSIC SUCK So BAD? Why Aren't There Any Great Musical Talents Anymore ? Someone tell me Please !!!

You show me a machine or a computer program that can match the stellar majesty of Luciano Pavarotti’s singing “Nessun Dorma,” and I’ll acknowledge it as music.  Until then, it’s fucking garbage.

If you’re under 25 years old — or an immature 30-plus — I’m about to set your ass straight.
So, listen up.
Your music is fucking garbage.
There, I said it.
Mindless crap.  Eardrum-bursting, dagger-in-the-eyes, ass-bagging, blow your fucking brains out — unadulterated dog shit.  That pretty much sums up the type of music that’s popular with today’s young people.
Listen, you stupid sons of bitches.  I’m talking at you.  I’m your elder.  My opinion demands respect.
Your music hasn’t got life.  It’s fucking dead.  Your music is void of humanity.  It’s as fake as a porn queen’s orgasm.  There’s no soul.  It’s tripe.  It’s a carp in the sea of music.  The stuff you listen to was created by fucking machines.
Today’s “artists” — there’s an oxymoron — don’t even need to know how to play musical instruments or sing.  In other words, no fucking talent whatsoever is needed to succeed today in music.  You heard me.  No.  Talent.  Whatsoever.
And, I’m fucking sick of it because the current generation is taking the gold we gave you and dragging it into a sewer.

Timberlake Cant Stop The Feeling SUCKS

JUSITN TIMBERLAKE 'S MUSIC SUCKS

If he was around and Trying to make it in the 60s or 70s, everyone would think the he was INSANE, thinking he was good and would have an inkling that he can be on The TONIGHT SHOW when JOHNNY CARSON was host, they would have LAUGHED in his Face.

Now he's on the TONIght SHOW all the time because JIMMY FALLON Likcs his Ass, even though his Music SUCKS, and  Justin Timberlake is Talent-less in camparison to all the Great POP, R&B, and ROCK Artists of the 60s, 1970s and even the 1980s, but like 99% of the Music these days (21st CENTURY), Justin Timberlake 's Music SUCKS, Pure & Simple. The problem is, that a good portion of today's public has such SHITTY TATSTE in Music. This is the reason that people like Kanye West, TAYLOR SWIFT, Justin Timberlake and other can make SHITTY MUSIC an d become BIG STAR without putting out one Good Record, people have SHitty Taste and accept Shitty Music. I's really insane and beyond beleif that after all the GREAT MUSIC of The 1960s and 70s, that MUSIC JUST DIED, Rock Died, R&B DIED, POP MUSIC DIED, and now all we have horrible talent-less artisit like TAYLOR SWIFT, KANYE WEST, and Justin Timberlake and all the shitty artist who make so-called Alternative Rock that has no melody, no structure, horrible lyrics, and not one great Guitarist out there, like back in the day, when you had Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Paige, Keith Richards, Mick Taylor and other great Rock Guitarist all making music at the same time.

Hw did all the great music just die? I just don't get it. It Mystifies me. Will anyone ever make good music again, or will they just Keep Making SHITTY RAP HIP HOP CRAP, Shit Alternative Rock, and HORRIBLE FUCKING POP Music, the kind TAYLOR SWIFT, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, and JUSTIN BEIBER Make? WHEN WILL IT END? SOMEBODY HELP! PLEASE !!!

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

"CAN'T STOP THE FEELING"

"THIS SONG SUCKS" !!!

21st CENTURY MUSIC SUCKS Proof

KANYE SUCKS Even More Than HIS SHITTY MUSIC

I’ve long argued that today’s music sucks, well aware that for saying this I’ll be accused of being a curmudgeon who simply likes his generation’s music and can’t make way for the innovations of the new kids.
My response to that accusation is threefold: that there are no groups today that even begin to rival the great groups of the Sixties, including the Beatles, the Doors, Santana, and so on; that oldies stations twenty years from now will still be playing the Beatles and not Maroon 5 or Ariana Grande; and that somebody had to live through the era of the most innovative rock and pop music that existed, and those people just happen to be me and my peers.
I’ve also defended my views in a very popular post comparing the top-selling songs of my day and these days (see also here). There was no comparison: look at the lists of the top 20 Billboard songs.
You know I’m right, don’t you? And if you don’t, well, you can take a number, get in line, and . . .
But now we have more objective measures of rock quality. Below is a new article from the New York Times claiming that today’s songs are louder and having a more compressed dynamic range compared to rock songs of yore and also (a more arguable claim) that people easily tire of loud, compressed music. There are other articles (I won’t list them all) showing that using various indices, pop music has become worse on a number of fronts. One website lists 5 studies that were themselves summarized by the BBC. The SCIENTIFIC RESULTS:
1. Pop music has become slower — in tempo — in recent years and also “sadder” and less “fun” to listen to.
2. Pop music has become melodically less complex, using fewer chord changes, and pop recordings are mastered to sound consistently louder (and therefore less dynamic) at a rate of around one decibel every eight years.
3. There has been a significant increase in the use of the first-person word “I” in pop song lyrics, and a decline in words that emphasize society or community. Lyrics also contain more words that can be associated with anger or anti-social sentiments.
4. 42% of people polled on which decade has produced the worst pop music since the 1970s voted for the 2010s. These people were not from a particular aging demographic at all — all age groups polled, including 18-29 year olds, appear to feel unanimously that the 2010s are when pop music became worst. This may explain a rising trend of young millennial's, for example, digging around for now 15-30 year-old music on YouTube frequently. It’s not just the older people who listen to the 1980s and 1990s on YouTube and other streaming services it seems — much younger people do it too.
5. A researcher put 15,000 Billboard Hot 100 song lyrics through the well-known Lev-Zimpel-Vogt (LZV1) data compression algorithm, which is good at finding repetitions in data. He found that songs have steadily become more repetitive over the years, and that song lyrics from today compress 22% better on average than less repetitive song lyrics from the 1960s. The most repetitive year in song lyrics was 2014 in this study.
Conclusion: There is some scientific evidence backing the widely voiced complaint — on the internet in particular — that pop music is getting worse and worse in the 2000s and the 2010s. The music is slower, melodically simpler, louder, more repetitive, more “I” (first-person) focused, and more angry with anti-social sentiments. The 2010s got by far the most music quality down votes with 42% from people polled on which decade has produced the worst music since the 1970s.
